Footprint of the Abbey
Saturday 11th February - Sunday 21st May 2017
Exhibition by Areté Visual Arts supporting the Final Chapter of the Rescue Our Ruins Appeal 11th February – 21st May 2017*
In February 2016, when the abbey launched the Final Chapter to raise the last £100,000 needed to complete the conservation, this group of local artists immediately gave their support and the Footprint of the Abbey project began.
The exhibition will include paintings, sculpture and mixed media assemblages and this high quality work will be available to buy to boost the appeal.
The artists taking part are:-

Experience Medieval Carpentry and Build a Bird Box
Wednesday 29th March 2017
Carpentry was an essential job relating to all areas of medieval life, from great Abbeys to humble farmyards and everything between. On this course you will learn essential carpentry skills that have remained unchanged from the medieval period. You will also learn about the life and role of a medieval carpenter. By the end of the day you will have used these skills to create a bird box that is yours to take home! This course is part of our Medieval Kitchen Garden project. Glastonbury Medieval Fayre
Saturday 15th - Sunday 16th April 2017
The Glastonbury Medieval Fayre is back!
This year’s event will feature jousting, a battle, archery and children’s activities; it really is an event for all the family and provides plenty to do over the Easter weekend.
The event will take place on the 15th and 16th April and tickets per day cost £10 per adult, £5.00 for a child (five to 15)/abbey members, £27.50 for a family 2 adults and 2 children and can be bought by following the link below.
Beetle Drive with Fish and Chip Supper

Come and enjoy a night of fun, tension and laughter with our fund-raising Beetle Drive plus a Fish and Chip supper courtesy of Knights.

This is a Glastonbury Mayor's Charity event supporting the abbey's Rescue Our Ruins Appeal.

Glastonbury Fringe Launch

Glastonbury Fringe is celebrating its 6th year in 2017 by hosting its biggest launch event yet. On June 9th at the world famous Glastonbury Abbey, Fringe 2017 will launch in spectacular style dancing into the night with the amazing 3 Daft Monkeys, Tankus The Henge, Swampgrass and Lazy Daze. Doors open at 17:30 and tickets are £10 in advance or £15 on the door (subject to availability)

Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza 2017

The 2017 Extravaganza will feature the Black Dyke Band with a top contemporary act to be announced.
The Yorkshire-based brass band is the most recorded in the world with more than 350 recordings and has won the European Brass Band Championships 13 times, the British Open Brass Band Championships 30 times and the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain 23 times.
The 2017 spectacular complete with traditional firework display will be the 21st Extravaganza to be held at Glastonbury Abbey.
We are committed to making the abbey and events held at the abbey accessible to everyone. We may provide disabled ticket holders (who would be unable to attend without a PA - personal assistant / carer / essential companion) with a ticket at no additional cost for their PA, if they are in receipt of one of the following:
- Middle or Higher rate DLA for care and/or mobility
- Receipt of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
- Evidence of being severely sight impaired
- CredAbility Access Card (+1 category requirement), see www.accesscard.org.uk
- A recognised Assistance Dog ID Card
If you do not have any of the above evidence but are unable to attend the abbey without a PA you are welcome to post or email copies of any additional evidence that supports your application. Applications are judged on a case-by-case basis. Tickets for events are sold on a first come, first served basis.
