Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Abbey

Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Abbey

Castle Theatre Company brings Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream to the outdoors

Durham University’s Castle Theatre Company will perform William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Glastonbury Abbey on July 12

The performance continues Castle Theatre Company’s three-decade-long tradition of performing open-air Shakespeare in stately homes, castles and gardens around the UK.

Comprising fourteen of Durham University’s most talented actors, led by a professional directing team and produced by the oldest and most exciting theatre company at the university, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a unique and exhilarating production of one of Shakespeare’s best loved comedies.

Celebrating all things magical, A Midsummer Night’s Dream explores the world of woodland fairies, theatrical endeavours, and four young people who are desperately fighting what life (and roguish pixies) throw at them in a search for their soul-mates.

In a summer where we are embracing the spirit of Britain, this production will celebrate traditional British comedy in a beautifully natural outdoor setting, brimming with love, laughter and enchantment ever-after.
