Gathering of Faiths - April 21

Gathering of Faiths - April 21

Glastonbury Abbey is taking part in a gathering of faiths on Saturday April 21.

Called Glastonbury 2012, the celebration is the brainchild of town mayor Bill Knight.

The event on April 21 begins at 8.30am with the lighting of the blue 12-inch Glastonbury Candle – infused with herbs, trees, flowers and extract of the Glastonbury Thorn.

This happens at Glastonbury Pilgrim Reception Centre and will be relayed by representatives of many different faiths, beliefs and sacred sites to all of the participating beliefs and then end at the Chalice Well for a ceremony led by the Glastonbury Pilgrim Reception Centre at 4pm.

The candle will be received at the Abbey at 9.20 on Saturday morning  and relayed to its next stop at the Town Hall by members of the Abbey Team.

The Abbey will be represented at the afternoon ceremony by chairman of trustees John Brendon.
