Badger update: Some people have asked for further clarification following our earlier statement, we have spoken again to our consultant and we are able to add to the information previously posted.
We now understand that we should have described the area called a new nursery as a single entrance sett. This sett was excavated over the winter and is disturbing the archaeology as well as adversely impacting on visitors. We are advised that no badgers will be made homeless by the actions we are taking to protect property from damage as a well-established main sett exists nearby within our grounds and will be retained undisturbed.
We would like to reiterate that we positively encourage and celebrate all the wildlife at the abbey.
