Biography for John Brendon
Chairman of Trustees
For me, the role of the board of trustees is to provide a guiding hand to the full time team, and to enhance the profile of the Abbey. I have known Glastonbury and the Abbey since I was a child. My grandfather was a farmer at Kingweston and my aunt taught history at Millfield School. These connections, and the fascination of the place, drew me to become a trustee since I believe that the maintenance of the ruins helps to preserve a vital part of English history. The Abbey helps us to understand the development of religion and social activity in England.
