An exhibition on the theme of the abbey in its natural setting by a group of local artists will display work in a range of media. Fine figural stone sculptures by Tom Clark will reflect the abbey’s own carvings, while paintings and prints by Lucy Willis, Ann Fagan and Andrea Clark will illustrate the trees, plants and wildlife which inhabit the abbey grounds. Doors open at 7.30pm and the screening begins at sunset. Refreshments  will be available. Tickets are on sale now from the Glastonbury Abbey website and shop. Prices are:

Bring a blanket or a low backed chair and appropriate dress for an outdoor cinema. Parents are advised that the film may contain some scenes unsuitable for young viewers. Please consider whether the film is suitable for your children before purchasing a ticket.

Orphaned, penniless but ambitious and with a mind crammed with imagination and fresh ideas, the American Phineas Taylor Barnum will always be remembered as the man with the gift to effortlessly blur the line between reality and fiction. Thirsty for innovation and hungry for success, the son of a tailor will manage to open a wax museum but will soon shift focus to the unique and peculiar, introducing extraordinary, never-seen-before live acts on the circus stage. Some will call Barnum's wide collection of oddities, a freak show; however, when the obsessed showman gambles everything on the opera singer Jenny Lind to appeal to a high-brow audience, he will somehow lose sight of the most important aspect of his life: his family. Will Barnum risk it all to be accepted?

Old Herbaceous

Saturday 8th September 2018

Described as “Downton Abbey with gardening tips”, Old Herbaceous is the humorous love story of a single-minded yet gentle man with a passion for plants and is a charming one man play which has entranced sell-out audiences all around the country over the last two years.
An acute and sometimes hilarious observation of relationships between the classes in a simpler age, Old Herbaceous is sprinkled with witticisms and epithets. The evening blossoms into tender humour, much in the traditionally understated
English style of the early 20th century.
As Old Herbaceous, renowned actor Giles Shenton truly lives the part of the legendary Head Gardener, Herbert Pinnegar, inviting you to feel included in a private chat from a bygone, comforting age. Keeping you engrossed, amused and emotionally engaged from start to finish, Old Herbaceous will leave you with a feeling that, perhaps, all’s right with the world.
Start time 6pm with ‘doors open’ at 5pm.
