Updated advice to visitors 24th September 2020

Glastonbury Abbey continues to welcome visitors between Tuesday and Sunday during Autumn while maintaining adherence to the government guidelines in place for the COVID-19 pandemic. As a visitor to Glastonbury Abbey you are able to purchase a ticket either online in advance or in person at the ticket office. A member of staff will greet you at the entrance to ask for your contact details for the government’s test and trace system. This is a legal requirement of organisations within our sector and is a condition of entry. There are also posters with the Test & Trace QR code should you be using the NHS app. Abbey members just need to scan their membership card at the entrance as usual.

Please continue to wear a mask while in the buildings on site (including entry and exit). Groups should be limited to 6 people as per the guidelines. Remember to be respectful of other visitors and keep two metres apart. If you have symptoms or have recently been in contact with someone who has tested positive or is isolating, please do not visit the abbey and follow the NHS guidance on getting tested and isolating.

Our opening hours continue to be 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am to 5.30pm on Saturday and Sunday with last entry 45 minutes before the closing. Our opening times will continue to be reviewed in line with government guidance and the status of the pandemic.

As an independent charity the abbey is reliant on visitors for approximately 95% of its £3,000 per day running costs. As you can imagine the Covid-19 pandemic and loss of visitors has had a devastating impact. We are taking every measure we can to help reduce costs, but as we enter the winter months, and with restrictions still in place, we urgently need your help. Now more than ever the abbey’s grounds provide a safe space for people to relax and enjoy themselves. We know how tough times are for everyone right now, but if you can donate please do. On behalf of everyone at Glastonbury Abbey we thank you for any support you are able to provide.
