The Glastonbury Abbey Town Deal project was an exciting development of the visitor entrance, culminating in the creation of a new visitor space and meeting point now known as the Abbey Yard.
The Yard project drastically improved the abbey’s main visitor entrance by:
- Landscaping the driveway
- Refurbishing the shop
- Introducing a new café and visitor reception with accessible toilets
- Expanding the entrance area into an attractive community meeting space
With the project completed, St. Patrick’s Chapel has become freely accessible to the public while the new Gift Shop and Yard Café are available for visitors to explore. In the near future, the Yard will host a year-round calendar of community events.
