Glastonbury Abbey is set in 36 beautifully peaceful acres of parkland in the centre of the ancient market town of Glastonbury.
The grounds team work tirelessly across Glastonbury Abbey and Abbey House to produce the stunning grounds and gardens that are worth the visit on their own. Sustainability and seasonal planning are a hallmark and the grounds are able to recover quickly and effectively from the traffic that comes with events and increased visitor numbers during the summer months.

The abbey's herb and medieval kitchen gardens
A short walk through the hedge into the abbey orchard finds our popular herb and medieval kitchen gardens.
The kitchen garden grows produce to be used in our Abbot's Kitchen displays and activities, while the herb garden hosts a variety of traditional herbs which may have been used in cooking at the abbey during the monastic period.

Glastonbury Abbey continues to offer Abbey Cider for sale in our shop and cafe and the orchard is still the source of the apples for this popular drink.
The abbey orchard has been in use since at least 1799 and possibly during the monastic period.
