Your visit to Glastonbury Abbey begins in the Abbey Yard...
Redeveloped in 2024 as part of the Glastonbury Town Deal, the Yard provides a world-class visitor welcome in keeping with the abbey’s historical, cultural and spiritual significance.
Follow in the footsteps of medieval pilgrims as you secure provisions from the Yard Café, browse gifts and souvenirs in the Shop and visit St. Patrick’s Chapel before stepping into the grounds of Glastonbury Abbey.
The Abbey Yard also serves as a communal meeting space for Glastonbury residents and visitors, located in the heart of the town with easy access to most of Glastonbury’s shops, amenities and attractions.

Abbey Yard Café
The brand new Yard Café is the ideal place to secure provisions for your visit, enjoy a hearty lunch or just catch up with friends over coffee. With indoor and outdoor seating available, the Yard Café can be enjoyed whatever the weather!
Our menu includes:

Abbey Yard Gift Shop
Just as medieval pilgrims would take home tokens of their visit to Glastonbury Abbey, so too can our present-day visitors.
The Abbey Yard Gift Shop offers a large range of souvenirs and gifts, each inspired by the many stories of Glastonbury Abbey.

St. Patrick's Chapel
St Patrick’s Chapel, once accessible only to those with an admission ticket, is now free to enter for all visitors.
Built in 1512 by Abbot Beere, St Patrick’s Chapel served the almshouses that stood nearby. Conservation work in 2008-9 revealed a complicated structural history that showed the chapel was partly comprised of earlier precinct walls of the 13th and 14th century.
Today, St Patrick’s Chapel is one of only two remaining intact medieval structures within the abbey precinct.
Weekly services take place on most Tuesday mornings and are open to all who wish to attend.
About the Town Deal Project
The Glastonbury Abbey Town Deal project was an exciting development of the visitor entrance, culminating in the creation of the new visitor space and meeting point now known as the Abbey Yard.
